After months upon months of quarantining and self-isolating as much as possible due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, people are craving human connection. Businesses have been shut down, offices have become remote, and people simply have not been able to socialize like they used to amidst the chaos caused by this lingering virus. As everyone tries to navigate the new normal - at least for the foreseeable future - we are forced to think of innovative ways to socialize and maintain the human interaction we so desperately need.
Not to mention, times are stressful! Many people are trying to balance working from home, parenting, and perhaps even teaching their children through virtual school environments as well. This impossible schedule leaves little time to unwind, but also makes it that much more important to ensure we are taking moments to ourselves to relax and rejuvenate our spirits!
Before the pandemic, and if stuck at home, we all used to flock to social media to get our fix. Scrolling through Instagram or Facebook was a relaxing, often humorous way to wind down. But now - with political, economic, and social tensions on the rise - social media platforms have become a place for increased anxiety, not relaxation! And who knows when we will be able to grab coffee with a friend, go see a movie, or attend concerts and sporting events once again.
For avid readers, virtual book clubs are becoming a popular option in an increasingly online world. Virtual book clubs are a place for people to connect with like-minded individuals, share opinions and feedback, get recommendations, and even interact with authors. As people are looking for more and more ways to liberate themselves from the day-to-day, getting lost in a book and then connecting with others about it proves to be a wondrous escape.
With that, I’d like to introduce the Paws N' Sip Virtual Book Club. Launching this fall in October, the Book Club provides a way for people to stay connected during COVID-19, and beyond.
