St. Lucia Island Adventure:
This was a beautiful island that my husband and I went to for our honeymoon. We stayed at the Sandals adults only resort, the resort itself was absolutely stunning. We are big foodies and unfortunately most of the food was subpar compared to other all inclusive resorts we have visited. The spa was gorgeous and the couple massage we really enjoyed as well.
One of my favorite things that I did while on this trip was scuba diving, I got certified right at the resort and loved every minute of the experience. We also did a full day excursion to zipline in the forest, taste cocoa beans, and went through a banana farm. We had a local cooked meal and got to shop downtown for a bit as well. I do not recommend leaving the resort without booking it through an excursion company. Also like to mention that there are many stray dogs and animals among the island, it can be hard to see for animal lovers. – trigger warning. It isn’t uncommon to see people with machetes and we had armed guards at the compound our hotel was located.
We did an amazing hike were you can see venezuela from the top and the history there was intriguing. That was followed by a beautiful sunset cruise, the island is beautiful but very poverty stricken. There are no private beaches and we were unfortunately bothered constantly to buy things from locals while we tried to enjoy a relaxing day at the pool or on the beach. This was a major turn off for us.
Another great day trip is to the Piton Mountains where they have a sulfur springs mud bath It is the only drive in volcano in the world. It does smell like rotten eggs but you get use to it. It was a full catamaran day trip, it included lunch, the springs, and snorkeling. It was a lot of fun and we really enjoyed the beautiful views.
I definitely recommend visiting this island, just beware of the things I mentioned and enjoy what the island has to offer.
